Author Jaqueline Harvey comes to Port Elliot Primary

Pages & More, in conjunction with the Alexandrina and Victor Harbor Libraries arranged for Sydney based children’s book author Jacqueline Harvey to speak to local Fleurieu students on Wednesday 28th May at Pt Elliot Primary School. Jacqueline is the author of the Clementine Rose and Alice Miranda series of books.

Students from public and private schools in the area were invited to come along to Pt Elliot Primary to be part of the session which was held in the school gymnasium. Students from Allsop, Warner, Reedy/Gross and Blake classes and the girls from Blacker, Roberts/Bernauer and Reynolds classes had the opportunity to attend this entertaining session.

Jacqueline, who was formally a teacher and school leader, was skilled in engaging the students as she talked about the characters and stories she has created.

Students who attended were pleased to be part of this wonderful literary experience.

Phil Kettle

On Monday 5th May well known Victorian children’s author Phil Kettle visited our school to run writing workshops with 9 of our classes. Phil is the author of the very popular Too Cool, Boyz Rule and Girls Rock series of books. He has also written the Marcy, Great Reads and Our Australia series of books. Phil has had 160 of his books published so far and is still busy writing. Phil spoke to the students about the importance of reading and shared his guidelines for writing a story. We were very lucky to be one of the 5 schools in South Australia that Phil was able to visit this week. Thank you to the Parent Network who made this possible by funding Phil’s visit so that all students from the 9 participating classes could attend his sessions. Phil’s books are some of the most frequently borrowed from the library and it was great for students to get to know the person who created their favourite books.
